This is a great time of year to get immunized whether you are a young child going back to school, a student going away to college, have a trip planned traveling abroad, or need to catch up on vaccines that have been missed over the years.  Getting immunized is an easy thing you can do to protect your health and those around you.  There are vaccines recommended for people of all ages, and your pharmacist can help you decide which ones would benefit you.

Why Get Vaccinated?

There are many diseases that can be prevented by getting vaccinated.  Immunizations help prevent the spread of disease to vulnerable populations, like infants, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.  The side effects of a vaccination are generally mild (pain and redness at injection site, headache) and far outweigh the consequences of not getting immunized and contracting the illness or disease itself.

Did you know your pharmacists at Cass St Pharmacy Gundersen Health System can administer vaccines?

All of our pharmacists are certified to give vaccines to people as young as 6 years of age.  Getting vaccinated at your pharmacy may be less expensive and more convenient than making an appointment with your health care provider.  We are able to bill your insurance, including Medicare, for vaccines received in the pharmacy.  Your pharmacist will let your doctor know that you have received a vaccination at the pharmacy, so your health records stay up to date.

Cass St Pharmacy Gundersen Health System offers the following vaccines:

  • Influenza (Flu)
  • Shingles (Herpes zoster)
  • Tetanus with pertussis (whooping cough)
